WCAC Roundup : St. Mary’s Beats Gonzaga in Overtime, 77-64

Robert Haugen scored 10 of his 15 points in overtime, and St. Mary’s came from 15 points behind to overcome Gonzaga, 77-64, in overtime Saturday night in a West Coast Athletic Conference game at Spokane, Wash.

The Gaels (13-6, 5-3) tied the game with two seconds left in regulation when Al Lewis hit a three-point shot. Lewis, who scored 19 points, hit 5 of 7 three-pointers.

Danny Roe scored 29 points for Gonzaga (11-10, 2-9), which went 5 1/2 minutes without a point to let St. Mary’s back into the game.

Portland 68, San Diego 64--Ron Deaton scored 17 points, and the Pilots held off the Toreros at Portland, Ore.

San Diego (9-12, 1-7) fell behind, 14-1, at the outset and trailed the entire game but managed to come within a point three times, the last with 1:07 to play.

Portland (6-15, 1-7) made 5 of 6 free throws in the final 32 seconds to hold on for its first WCAC win.

Adam Simmons had 15 points and 12 rebounds for Portland. John Sayers had 18 points and 8 rebounds for San Diego.
