Torrey Pines 58, Fallbook 42--Slowdown tactics by host Fallbrook worked for one quarter, but top-ranked Torrey Pines pulled away in the final three. The teams were tied, 10-10, after one quarter, but Torrey Pines (25-1, 10-1) outscored Fallbrook, 11-3, in the second. It had a seven-point lead after three, then broke through for 19 points in the final period to put the game away. TP’s Courtie Miller led all scorers with 18 points. Mike West had 11 for Fallbrook (11-12, 4-6).

San Dieguito 65, Orange Glen 60--After Coach Mark Embree of San Dieguito was ejected from the game for arguing a call in the third quarter, his team pulled away for the victory at home. Jeff Zevely led San Dieguito (9-13, 3-7) back from a 10-point deficit with 26 points, including 6-for-6 shooting from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Jalil Jagers scored 9 of his 16 points in the fourth. Dan Early scored 25 points for Orange Glen (5-16, 0-10).

San Marcos 53, Oceanside 52--Using a zone defense and strong rebounding, visiting San Marcos (5-12, 5-8) upset 10th-ranked Oceanside (12-9, 8-4). After the teams were tied, 25-25, at halftime, San Marcos went to a zone defense in the third period. Oceanside was unable to hit from outside, scored just six points and trailed, 42-31, going into the final quarter. Oceanside made a strong rally in the fourth period but fell short. Matt Barrick scored 15 points and pulled in 12 rebounds for San Marcos. Donald Barner led Oceanside scoring with 18 points.

Ramona 67, San Pasqual 44--Nate Hollingsworth scored 19 points for Ramona (13-13, 8-4), which never was threatened after taking a 13-4 lead in the first quarter. San Pasqual (4-13, 3-9) was led by freshman Eric Meek’s 20 points.

El Camino 78, Carlsbad 54--Fifth-ranked El Camino held off a brief rally by Carlsbad in the second quarter and went on to post an easy road victory. Carlsbad drew to within three points, 31-28, near the end of the second quarter. But El Camino went on a 7-0 run to close out the first half and kept the pressure on through the final two periods. Lee Cobb scored 25 points for El Camino (18-4, 11-1).
