Pitcher Neal Heaton and the Montreal Expos agreed to a two-year contract for $1.275 million, avoiding an arbitration hearing.
Heaton, who was 13-10 with a 4.52 earned-run average last season, will receive $625,000 this season and $650,000 in 1989. He can earn an additional $150,000 each year in incentive bonuses.
