A 17-year-old boy wanted in San Diego in connection with the sword stabbing of his ex-girlfriend and the slashing of two of her relatives was arrested Wednesday by National City police after a tip by an anonymous caller, authorities said.

The teen was picked up near the intersection of East Plaza Boulevard and Highland Avenue at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Officer Ray Allen said. An anonymous caller informed police that the boy had been seen in the area.

The teen, whose name was withheld because of his age, was being held at the San Diego County Juvenile Detention Center, supervisor Joe Barajas said. He said the teen resides in Los Angeles.

Tuesday night, police said, the teen allegedly entered his former girlfriend’s home armed with a knife and demanded that the 15-year-old girl leave with him. He was disarmed by the girl’s relatives.

The teen then allegedly slashed two of the girl’s relatives with an ornamental sword that adorned a wall in the home. Police said he also stabbed his former girlfriend in the thigh and throat.

The girl was in fair condition at UC San Diego Medical Center Thursday, a spokeswoman said. The relatives, including the girl’s mother, were treated for minor injuries.
