Granite Hills 77, Monte Vista 65--Visiting Granite Hills (14-7, 9-7) won the first quarter, 20-10, and never led by less than 10 thereafter. For Granite Hills, Shawn Russ scored 22. Scott Winne had 25 points, James Fraser 14 and Halifu Johnson 13 for Monte Vista (10-12, 7-9).

Mt. Miguel 50, El Capitan 40--Mt. Miguel held the visitors to just two points in the first quarter. Anthony Rivera led Mt. Miguel (10-12, 8-8) with 12 points. El Capitan’s Jason Berkshire, who did not start, scored 16. “Our press hurt them some, and they didn’t play well offensively,” said Art Edge, Mt. Miguel’s coach.

Helix 77, El Cajon Valley 52--Despite 18 points by Kevin Davis, El Cajon Valley lost on the road.

PALOMAR LEAGUE

Poway 74, Orange Glen 60--Four players scored in double figures for No. 4 Poway (18-5, 9-3), which used a fast break offense to outscore host Orange Glen, 17-9, in the second quarter. Adam Jones led Poway with 16 points, Dave Delaney had 13, Ty Nichols 12 and Gabby Awbre 10. Dan Early and Shawn Macklin each had 18 for Orange Glen (5-19, 0-12).

Mt. Carmel 60, Fallbrook 56--Jeff Pack hit a three-point shot at the end of the third quarter to give Fallbrook a two-point lead, but host Mt. Carmel took over as Jason Mann led a fourth-quarter surge.

Mike West scored 22 points and Todd Adamson 12 for Fallbrook (12-13, 5-7). For Mt. Carmel (15-9, 7-5), Eric Olander and Chris Conrad each scored 21.

AVOCADO

El Camino 79, Ramona 68--A 25-15 fourth-quarter edge carried visiting and No. 5 El Camino (20-4, 13-1). For El Camino, Lee Cobb scored 24, Scott Oatsvall 22 and Steve Carr 16. For Ramona (13-15, 8-6), Kenny Pendell scored 20, Chad Nelson 18 and Jason McClenaghan 15.

Escondido 58, Oceanside 48--No. 8 Escondido outscored the home team, 22-12, in the third quarter for the victory. Paul Baldwin scored 20 and Brooks Barnhard 13 for Escondido (19-5, 11-3), which closed the regular season by winning 8 of 9 games. For Oceanside (13-12, 9-5), Alvin McGee and Don Barner each scored 16, and Anthony Morrow had 11.

San Marcos 65, San Pasqual 62--San Marcos gained a 17-2 lead with its half-court press, but San Pasqual rallied to take a 51-50 lead. Visiting San Marcos then recovered as George Mojica and Jess Williams each hit two free throws in the final minute.

GROSSMONT LEAGUE

Santana 84, Valhalla 34--Leslie Ellis scored 26 points and Barb Bennett added 21 for visiting, No. 1-ranked Santana (22-1, 16-0).

Monte Vista 68, Granite Hills 48--Melissa Smith had 31 points, 6 assists and 6 steals as host Monte Vista (18-6, 13-3) gained an easy victory. Danise Myers added 12 points and 24 rebounds for Monte Vista.
