Orlin Norris Requires Only 1 Minute, One Punch to Knock Out Woody Clark

The first punch San Diego heavyweight Orlin Norris threw Tuesday night was also his last.

It took only one overhand right for Norris, the North American Boxing Federation heavyweight champion, to knock out Woody Clark (6-14-1) of Ft. Bragg, N.C., in the scheduled 10-round co-main event at the Country Club in Reseda.

Clark went down at the 1:04 mark of the first round and then indicated to referee Robert Byrd that he’d had enough.

Norris (16-1, 9 knockouts) weighed in at 209 for the non-title fight. Clark checked in at 203.

In the other featured 10-round bout, featherweight Jesus Poll, 125, of North Hollywood won a unanimous 10-decision over Victor Paredes, 126, of Los Angeles to improve his unbeaten record to 15-0-2 with 5 knockouts.

In a prelim fight, junior welterweight Jerry Rosenberg (4-1, two knockouts) of Glendale stopped Roberto Olvera (1-2) of San Diego with a devastating right hand just 32 seconds into the first round of their scheduled four-round bout.
