CS Long Beach Tries for a Repeat Victory
Cal State Long Beach will try to beat UC Santa Barbara for the second time this season in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. game tonight at 8 at the Long Beach Arena.
The fourth-place 49ers (15-8 overall, 9-5 in the PCAA) played one of their best games in a 77-76 win at Santa Barbara Jan. 30. They trail the second-place Gauchos (19-5, 11-4) by 1 1/2 games.
Santa Barbara, which has beaten Nevada Las Vegas twice, is led by guard Brian Shaw, the conference leader in assists (6.3 a game) and rebounds (9.3 a game).
Long Beach guard Morlon Wiley is fourth in the PCAA in scoring, averaging 19.9 points a game.
The game will be part of a doubleheader. At 5:45, the 49er women’s team will play Hawaii.
