Miami Dolphins’ owner Joe Robbie has filed an $8.1-million lawsuit against former owners of the land where he has built his new stadium, claiming they failed to tell him they promised nearby homeowners not to rezone the property without majority approval.
The suit alleges that the former owners told Robbie the 160-acre site had “no major impediments and no material restrictions.”
But the property carried a covenant, later satisfied, that prohibited rezoning the land without the permission of the majority of homeowners living within 350 feet of the site, according to the suit.
