Stanford Edges CSUN in Volleyball
Two days after upsetting fourth-ranked Pepperdine at home, the Cal State Northridge men’s volleyball team dropped a Western Intercollegiate Volleyball Assn. match Thursday night at Stanford.
Stanford, ranked 12th, defeated the eighth-ranked Matadors, 15-2, 10-15, 15-13, 1-15, 15-4.
“We just made too many mental mistakes in the fifth game,” CSUN Coach John Price said. “It was a combination of them playing really well and us breaking down mentally.”
Outside hitters Brad Hanan and Dan Nelson led Stanford (10-10, 4-4 in conference play). Hanan had 22 kills and a .349 hitting percentage, and Nelson had 16 kills and a .382 hitting percentage.
Rob Samuelson had 23 kills and Jeff Campbell added 13 kills for Northridge (8-11, 3-6).
