Two top officials of international track said in London that Zola Budd has been cleared to run for Britain in the World Cross Country Championships this month.

Primo Nebiolo, president of the International Amateur Athletic Federation, and John Holt, the group’s general secretary, said no pressure is being applied to British officials to withdraw Budd from the meet, scheduled for Auckland, New Zealand, March 26.

Several African nations have threatened to boycott the championships if Budd, a South African native who moved to London in 1983, is allowed to compete.
