Baseball : Pacifica Pitchers Combine for No-Hitter

Todd Long and Kevin Prentiss combined on a no-hitter as Pacifica High School defeated Magnolia, 20-1, Tuesday in a Loara tournament baseball game at Pacifica.

Long pitched the first four innings and Prentiss the final three. Magnolia scored in the sixth on two errors and a fielder’s choice. Oscar Ravelo had four hits, including a three-run home run in the second, for Pacifica, which had 26 hits.

In other Loara tournament games:

Cypress 5, Los Amigos 2--Jason Livingston pitched a six-hitter and had six strikeouts for host Cypress (1-2). Steve Sheets had two triples and a single and scored a run for Cypress. Los Amigos is 0-3.

Dana Hills 10, Loara 7--Chris Delfs had three hits, including a three-run home run, and Denny Papp also hit a home run for the visiting Dolphins. Danny Rodriguez, Joey Pactwa and Kenny Williams each had a pair of hits for Loara.

Laguna Hills 19, Santiago 0 (5 innings, darkness)--Rob Milo gave up two hits and hit a three-run home run for visiting Laguna Hills (2-1). Chris Sheff also hit a three-run home run and Mike Smedes had four hits and five RBIs.

La Quinta 7, Kennedy 1--James Marquez had a hit and three RBIs and Mark Dion, Jason Cherms and Brian Peters had two hits each for La Quinta (2-1), which scored five runs in the first.

Los Alamitos 13, University 2--Todd Gragnano hit a grand slam in the fourth and Tony Muser had four hits for host Los Alamitos (2-1), which had 17 hits.

Ocean View 12, Servite 2 (8 innings)--Mark Brenner hit a three-run home run as visiting Ocean View (3-2) scored 10 runs in the eighth. Steve Hernandez was one of five players who had two hits for Ocean View.

Sunny Hills 7, San Clemente 6--Sunny Hills (2-3) was down, 6-5, in the sixth when Brian Beronda hit a two-run double (2 for 4 with 4 RBIs) to give Sunny Hills the victory. John Montgomery added a two-run home run for Sunny Hills.

Fountain Valley 12, Katella 1--Fountain Valley broke open a 1-1 game with a two-out, six-run rally in the fourth.

In the Colton tournament:

Canyon 13, Valencia 5--Dan Puskas led Canyon (1-0) by going 4 for 5 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
