College Highlights : Ramirez Pitches Northridge Past Fresno State, 5-2

Leo Ramirez pitched a 2-hit complete game as Cal State Northridge defeated Fresno State, 5-2, in a nonconference game at Fresno.

Northridge (8-14) snapped an 8-game winning streak for Fresno State (17-6).

Ramirez (1-4) struck out 4 and walked 4. Chae-Ho Chong was 2 for 4 with a double and a home run and 3 runs batted in.

Pierce 9, Glendale 3--Mike Clark struck out 10 with no walks in a complete-game victory for Pierce in a Western State Conference game at Pierce.

Paul Plyler was 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs for Pierce (7-3, 1-1). Jim Doushgounian was 2 for 5 with 2 RBIs.

The Masters 7, Westmont 6--Westmont shortstop Tim Kimmel’s throwing error in the bottom of the 11th inning allowed Todd Skinner to score from third as Master’s won an NAIA District III game at home.

Dave Mayr (1-1) pitched 1 innings in relief to record the win for Master’s (7-11, 6-4).

Canyons 5, Bakersfield 4--Kevin Miner pitched 5 innings of 2-hit relief to record the win in a Western State Conference game at Bakersfield.
