Steve (Homer) Hall has resigned as defensive coordinator of the Cal State Fullerton football team.

Hall, 34, has coached the Fullerton secondary for five seasons and was named defensive coordinator after the 1986 season when Bob Burt left Fullerton to become the head coach at Cal State Northridge.

Hall coached three National Football League draft picks in the Fullerton secondary, including Mark Collins, who played in the Super Bowl in 1987 as a rookie for the New York Giants.

Hall, 34, does not yet have another coaching job, but he is relocating to Northern California where his wife, Carol, teaches and coaches at Butte College in Oroville. They have maintained two homes for more than a year and are expecting their first child.

“We are sorry to see Homer go, but he is putting his family ahead of coaching, which is the way is should be,” Titan Coach Gene Murphy said.
