Esperanza’s Gamblin Named Empire’s MVP

Esperanza High School’s Colleen Gamblin, who helped the Aztec girls’ soccer team reach the Southern Section 3-A final, was named the Empire League’s most valuable player by a vote of the leagues’s coaches.
Gamblin, a senior sweeper, led an Esperanza defense that posted four shutouts in the 3-A playoffs before losing to Buena, 2-0, in the final. She is joined on the first team by teammates Kristi Aububchon, Jenise Webb and Maria Dela Torres.
