Prep Track : Woodbridge Wins Brea-Olinda Relays in Record Times

The Woodbridge High School girls’ track team set five meet records Saturday en route to winning the Brea-Olinda Relays at Diamond Bar High School.

The Warriors set records in the 880 relay (1 minute 48.9 seconds), the 440 relay (51.5), the sprint medley (1:54), the 2-mile relay (9:57) and the mile relay (4:09.6).

Casey Keffer of Woodbridge won the 440-yard dash in 59.5.

Woodbridge won the girls’ division with 109 points. Canyon finished second with 59 points.

The Woodbridge boys’ team won its varsity division with 108 points. Narbonne was second with 102 points.

Canyon’s Allison Franke, who had three first-place finishes in Friday’s portion of the Katella relays at UC Irvine, also had three first-place finishes at the Brea-Olinda meet. Franke won the 100-meter low hurdles (15.4), the triple jump (35-6) and the discus (117-11).

In the boy’s 1,600 meters, Brent Jones of Brea-Olinda had a top time of 4:25 and La Habra’s Terrence Mahon finished at 4:26.

In the Katella Relays:

Katella won the Division I boys’ championship by edging Villa Park by one point, 67-66, Saturday at UC Irvine. The Division I girls’ championship Friday was just as close, with Mission Viejo beating Canyon, 73-72.
