Academy Award nominees nervously awaiting the results of the April 11 ceremony can stop sweating--at least that’s Mitchum antiperspirant’s line in a promotion designed to “reduce stress” among Oscar contenders. According to a spokesman for the company, Mitchum is conducting a national poll to pick the popular choices in top Oscar categories. Of course, the People’s Choice Awards more or less settled that matter several weeks ago (“Fatal Attraction” and practically everyone in it), but Mitchum will present its winners with special awards March 28. Winners will receive a framed certificate . . . and a supply of the company’s products. And that’s not all. If the products work for the movie celebrities, Mitchum will consider repeating the promotion for the Tony and Grammy awards--and the presidential election.
