THE COMMUNITY COLLEGES : Roundup : Hartwig, Taylor Lead Saddleback in Softball
Debbie Hartwig, a sophomore catcher, had a two-run double in the fifth inning to lead Saddleback College to a 3-0 victory over Riverside Friday in an Orange Empire Conference softball game at Riverside.
Patti Taylor, a sophomore right-hander, pitched a two-hitter with six strikeouts to improve to 22-2 overall and 10-0 in conference play for first-place Saddleback (23-3, 10-0). Kim Mileski had an RBI single in the third inning for Saddleback.
In Orange Empire Conference men’s track and field:
Rancho Santiago 83, Orange Coast 72--Jim Sorensen of Rancho Santiago won the 800 meters in 1 minute 51.2 seconds to lead visiting Rancho Santiago. In the 100, Steve Jennings of OCC ran a 10.7 to beat Paul Peters of Rancho Santiago, who ran 10.8.
In Orange Empire Conference women’s track and field:
Orange Coast 127, Rancho Santiago 2--Tracy Wright ran a 2:22.2 in the 800 meters for host Orange Coast.
