Sophomore Malia Ouzts set a Moorpark College record for hits in a season Friday to lead the Lady Raiders to a 10-1 victory over College of the Canyons in a Western State Conference softball game Friday at Canyons.

Ouzts, an All-American last season, was 3 for 4 with three runs batted in. Ouzts bettered by one the old record of 39, set in 1986 by Judy Fitzgerald, who is now a senior at Creighton. Moorpark (18-9-1, 6-0 in conference play) has won 11 of its past 13 games.

Julie Myers was 4 for 4 for Moorpark. Myers, a freshman from Royal High, also had three 3 RBIs and scored two runs. Sophomore Laura Detweiler was 2 for 5 with a double and two RBIs and Tammmy Ottino, a freshman from El Camino Real, was 2 for 4 and scored two runs.
