In the Century League:

Villa Park 4, El Modena 3--Munique Hernandez sacrificed home Gina Gonzales from third on a bunt in the fifth inning to break a 3-3 tie, and Villa Park (7-11, 1-0) went on to win at home.

Canyon 8, Santa Ana 0--Canyon’s Katie Cramer (6-3) struck out 10 on her way to pitching a three-hitter and also had a double, triple and two RBIs for host Canyon (9-5, 1-0).

In the Empire League:

Los Alamitos 3, Katella 0--Sophomore Shannon Skoglund (1-0) threw a no-hitter and struck out eight to lead host Los Alamitos (7-6, 1-0) over Katella.

In the Freeway League:

Sunny Hills 5, Fullerton 2--Amy Huett went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBIs to lead Sunny Hills (5-15, 1-0) at Fullerton.

In the Garden Grove League:

La Quinta 4, Garden Grove 2--Cheri Williams had three hits and two RBIs and Bobbi Cloyd struck out six batters for visiting La Quinta (9-4 and 4-1). Garden Grove is 3-2 in league.

Kennedy 6, Pacifica 1--Kennedy freshman pitcher Cheryl Longeway (12-3) threw five innings, giving up two hits, and also was 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs for Kennedy (12-5, 6-0).

In the Orange League:

Savanna 19, Anaheim 1--Lisa Hawthorne went 5 for 5 with a double, 2 triples and 4 RBIs and Nadine Ditto went 5 for 5 with a double and 5 RBIs to lead Savanna (9-7, 1-0) at Anaheim.

Brea-Olinda 1, Magnolia 0--Junior Kelly Cook (10-2) pitched her third no-hitter of the season, striking out 11 and extending her scoreless innings pitched to 36 for Brea-Olinda (11-2, 1-0), at Magnolia.

In the Sunset League:

Fountain Valley 2, Ocean View 0--Rae Rice (10-3) pitched her first no-hitter of the season, striking out nine, to lead Fountain Valley (15-4, 1-0) over host Ocean View (9-8, 0-1).

Edison 5, Marina 0--Edison’s Terry Carpenter (9-3) pitched a 1-hitter and struck out 12 for host Edison (11-4, 1-0).

Huntington Beach 2, Westminster 0--Jennifer Martin went 3 for 3 and scored a run to lead Huntington Beach (9-6, 1-0) at home.
