Strong Third Lap Gives Schwartz Win

Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa won the four-lap scratch main event Friday in front of 3,473 spectators in the weekly motorcycle speedway program at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.

Schwartz and Alan Christian of Huntington Beach were side by side for the first two laps, but Schwartz took over on the third lap to win by a bike length. Christian finished second, Brad Oxley of San Clemente was third and Jim Sisemore of Woodland was fourth.

Jay Gianetti of Yorba Linda won the eight-lap handicap main event.
