Sports Personalities Agree to Play in Montana State Benefit Tournament

Nearly two dozen sports personalities have committed to play in the second Bobcat-Michelob Celebrity Golf Classic here in June, including four Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees, tournament director Jan Stenerud said.

Proceeds from the golf tournament at the Riverside Country Club on June 24-25 go to Montana State’s Athletic Scholarship Assn. The entry fee is $250 and the field is limited to 128 players.

Stenerud, an MSU graduate and former place-kicking great for the Kansas City Chiefs, said the Hall of Fame members committed are former Kansas City quarterback Len Dawson and linebackers Willie Lanier and Bobby Bell, and former Green Bay running back Jim Taylor.

Other sports personalities who will play in the tournament are University of Indiana basketball coach Bobby Knight, former Oakland Raider tight end Dave Casper, former NFL coach Hank Stram, former Cleveland quarterback Brian Sipe, former Green Bay quarterback Lynn Dickey, Minnesota quarterbacks Wade Wilson and Tommy Kramer, San Diego tight end Kellen Winslow, former St. Louis quarterback Jim Hart, former University of Montana basketball star Larry Krystkowiak, Cleveland tight end Ozzie Newsome, and sports broadcasters Chris Berman of ESPN, Dick Schaap of ABC, and Paul Maguire of NBC.
