Toros Lose Early Lead and Fall, 9-4
Dominguez Hills jumped on top early Wednesday but the Toros eventually fell to Cal Poly Pomona, 9-4, in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. baseball game at Pomona.
Dominguez Hills took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, when reliever Wayne Kosturis entered the game for Pomona. Kosturis went the rest of the way to improve to 2-1.
Pomona (13-7 in conference, 25-18 overall) broke a 4-4 tie with a run in the fourth inning. Dave Hajek and Brian Grier led a 16-hit attack for Pomona, each collecting two doubles.
Dominguez Hills (4-17, 13-27) finished with eight hits. Starter Bruce Vegely suffered the loss, dropping to 2-7.
