Anthony Weatherspoon, a senior fullback on the University of Colorado football team, has been dismissed, Coach Bill McCartney said.
Weatherspoon, who was one of Orange County’s best running backs while playing for La Habra High School in 1983, was suspended for disciplinary reasons. Colorado officials refused to elaborate.
“As far as Colorado goes, it’s over,” McCartney said of Weatherspoon.
Weatherspoon could not be reached for comment.
In 1986, Weatherspoon was involved in a dormitory break-in, which resulted in members of the football team admitting cocaine use. Weatherspoon later pleaded guilty in Boulder County Court to a trespassing charge. He was sentenced to six months’ probation and 48 hours of community service.
