Lewis Leads Saugus Past Notre Dame

Cathy Lewis hit a two-out single in the top of the 10th inning to drive in Westie Grey as Saugus High defeated Notre Dame, 1-0, in the first round of the Southern Section 2-A Division softball playoffs at Notre Dame.

Lewis (10-5) struck out 13 and walked one in throwing a three-hitter at the Knights, who were the first-place representative from the San Fernando Valley League.

Grey singled with one out in the 10th and stole second before Lewis singled. Grey was 2 for 4 for Saugus (14-8), the third-place representative from the Golden League.
