Winning Colors Has Workout at Belmont

Three prominent contenders in next Saturday’s Belmont Stakes worked out on Belmont’s fast main track Sunday morning.

Kentucky Derby winner Winning Colors, who was more recently third in the Preakness, went five furlongs in 59 seconds. Along the way, she set fractions of 12 3/5, 24, 35 and 47. An exercise boy was in the irons.

Brian’s Time, sixth in the Derby and second in the Preakness, worked seven furlongs in 1:29 1/5 with Angel Cordero Jr. riding. The splits for Brian’s Time were 25, 50, 1:02 3/5 and 1:16.

Kingpost, 14th in the Derby and fourth in the Peter Pan Stakes at Belmont on May 29, worked a mile in 1:38 1/5 with Robbie Davis riding. Fractions for the work were unavailable.
