A meeting between the International Boxing Federation and Mike Tyson’s manager failed to yield a decision on the number of rounds scheduled for Tyson’s heavyweight championship fight against Michael Spinks June 27 in Atlantic City, N.J.
The IBF, which will govern the fight, requires that the bout go 15 rounds. But the World Boxing Council and World Boxing Assn., which sanctions only 12-round title fights, considers 15-round bouts unsafe. All organizations say they can strip Tyson of his title for defying them.
