Share

Sun Valley’s 7-5 win over Palmdale on Saturday was a delectable sampler plate for Eddie Chavez.

Chavez, of Sun Valley, played every position, starting at catcher, then working his way around the infield and outfield. With Sun Valley (9-11) trailing, 5-4, in the eighth, he was called in from right field to relieve starting pitcher Eddie Castellano with one out and runners on second and third.

Chavez, a right-hander, struck out two batters to end the inning. He then drove in the tying run in the bottom of the eighth and scored the winning run on a single by Harold Whiteside.
