Andino Wins Surfing Championship at Malibu
Dino Andino of San Clemente captured the championship of the Pacific Sunwear surfing tournament, the ninth in a series of 15 competitions, in Malibu Sunday.
Andino was the unanimous winner in the men’s division, defeating Mike Lambresi of Carlsbad, the defending United States champion and current points leader. John Parmenter of Huntington Beach finished third and Chris Menzie of San Diego fourth.
In the bodyboard competition, Mike Stewart of Kona, Hawaii, the defending U.S. champion and current points leader, finished first. Dave Cunniff of Oceanside was second, and Chris Cunningham of Huntington Beach was third.
The next stop of the tour will be Thursday through Sunday at San Clemente.
