Brush fires Friday in Mission Gorge and Dehesa Valley threatened homes but did no damage, fire officials reported.
A 40-acre blaze south of Dehesa Road burned through an area with several structures, but state Department of Forestry firefighters were able to protect the buildings, a CDF spokesman said. No damage or injuries were reported during the 1 1/2-hour fire.
San Diego city firefighters extinguished a canyon grass fire which threatened but did not reach several homes on Deerfield Street and Town View Court. Two youngsters playing in the canyon admitted to starting the fire accidentally.
