Share

After two days of maintaining that no deal had been made, the Washington Redskins announced at 1:30 EDT this morning they had traded Jay Schroeder to the Raiders for Jim Lachey and two high 1990 draft choices, which will depend on where the Raiders finish this season. Schroeder is to board a plane for Los Angeles this morning.

Schroeder, who played for UCLA and Palisades High School, lost his starting job to Doug Williams last season and the Redskins went on win the Super Bowl. Denied a chance to compete for the No. 1 job this season, Schroeder asked to be traded and his relationship with Coach Joe Gibbs deteriorated after that.
