White Breaks New Ground

Share

Russell White gains yardage faster than statisticians can track him. Or so it seems with Crespi’s All-American running back.

After a round-robin discussion involving reporters at two Valley-area newspapers and statisticians at the Southern Section office and Cal-Hi Sports, White gained 10 yards toward the state and Southern Section career rushing record of 5,397 yards before his senior season started.

The change in his official two-year career total from 4,609 yards to 4,619 stems from a need for consistency. Because the Southern Section’s total differed from that of Cal-Hi Sports, which the Southern Section acknowledges as the official keeper of state records, reporters negotiated an agreement.
