Golden West, Long Beach Start Play Tonight

Golden West College plays host to Long Beach tonight at 7 in a nonconference football game at Orange Coast College. It’s the season opener for both teams.

The Rustlers are led by sophomore running back Blaise Bryant, who gained 801 yards last year. Joe Napoli, a sophomore, will start at quarterback.

Damon Fisher, the starting quarterback at Bolsa Grande High School the past two seasons, is competing with Dan O’Shea for the starting job at Long Beach.

Fullerton travels to College of the Desert for a 7 p.m. start.

Fullerton and Golden West will have byes next week. But Rancho Santiago, Orange Coast and Saddleback will play. All the Orange County teams open Mission Conference play Sept. 24.
