Pittsburgh Pirates, Buffalo Bisons Renew Working Agreement
The Pittsburgh Pirates and Buffalo Bisons, their triple A affiliate, say they have renewed their player development contract for the 1989 season.
The Bisons, of the American Assn., are entering their second season as a Pirate affiliate.
Buffalo finished third in the American Assn.’s Eastern Division in 1988 with a 72-70 record, 17 games behind the Indianapolis Indians.
The Bisons set a minor league attendance record by drawing 1.2 million fans at Buffalo’s new Pilot Field this season, breaking the mark of 1.1 million set by Louisville in 1983, according to Pirates spokesman Greg Johnson.
Johnson said the Pirates have made no announcements of managers for minor league affiliates in 1989.
Club officials have said, however, that Rocky Bridges will not return as manager for Buffalo in 1989.
