The Loyola Marymount women’s volleyball team won the Georgetown Invitational on Saturday and improved its record to 4-6. The Lions beat Georgetown University 1-15, 15-10, 14-16, 15-8, 15-4 in the championship match and defeated Northern Iowa 15-11, 12-15, 15-11, 12-15, 17-15 in the semifinal.

In Friday’s first-round match, the Lions defeated George Washington University, 12-15, 14-16, 15-5, 15-12, 15-10.

Senior outside hitter Leslie Wohlford and senior setter Seham Khalaf were both named to the all-tournament team.

The Lions start West Coast Athletic Conference play Thursday when they host UC of San Diego.

The Loyola men’s soccer team will host UC San Diego today at 1 p.m. The Lions, which are 1-4-1 (0-1 in the WCAC) lost to Westmont College on Tuesday and to the University of Portland in their WCAC opener two weeks ago. Portland is ranked eighth in the nation.

The Cal State Dominguez Hills women’s soccer team defeated the University of Denver 3-0 on Saturday at Dominguez Hills. The Toros, who had their 17-match winning streak broken last week, dominated from the start, outshooting the Pioneers 23-3.

Lynor Johnson scored the first goal at the 16-minute mark after a Rhonda McVicar pass. In the second half McVicar scored at the 48-minute mark to give the Toros a 2-0 lead, and Jeanine Charroux knocked in a header off a corner kick by Johnson to put the game away 14 minutes later. Lisa Gonzales got her second shutout of the season as Dominguez Hills improved its record to 2-4-1. The Toros will play Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday at Toro Field.
