Defensive end Al (Bubba) Baker of the Minnesota Vikings has been suspended for one game for poking Ron Heller of the Philadelphia Eagles in the eye in the Vikings’ 23-21 win over the Eagles last Sunday, the National Football League announced.
The incident occurred after the first play of the second quarter as players were walking on and off the field.
NFL spokesman Joe Browne said tapes showed that Baker poked Heller in the eye and Heller fell to the ground. He said Baker was being suspended without pay for this Sunday’s game in Miami for flagrant unsportsmanlike conduct.
