An alert Estancia High School defense scored 1 touchdown and set up 2 others to lead the Eagles to a 35-7 victory over Laguna Beach Friday night in a nonleague game in front of 1,400 at Orange Coast College.

The victory gives Estancia a 4-0 record, its best start since 1981.

Defensively, end Kevin Thomas fell on a Laguna Beach fumble in the end zone after a bad snap on a punt; Marco Vasquez returned a fumble 45 yards late in the second quarter to set up Estancia’s third touchdown, and tackle Robert Gilbaugh recovered a fumble on the Laguna Beach 2-yard line to set up his team’s final touchdown.

Offensively, running back Josh Wojtkiewicz led Estancia with 135 yards and scored the Eagles’ first touchdown on their first play from scrimmage with a 70-yard run. He then scored on a 1-yard run.
