Steve Clark, a former assistant coach at UC Davis and UC Irvine, has been named men’s tennis coach at Chapman College, Athletic Director Walt Bowman announced Wednesday.
Clark replaces Mike Edles, who left in August to take a similar position at Cal State Hayward.
Chapman has won the NCAA Division II championship three times in the past four years, including the past two seasons. This will be Clark’s first head coaching position.
Clark played four years at UC Davis, earning All-America recognition in 1985. He was an assistant to Greg Patton at UC Irvine, before returning to Davis as an assistant in 1987 and 1988. Last year, the Aggies were ranked seventh in NCAA Division II.
