Robin Givens to Divorce Tyson

Actress Robin Givens, who said last week on national television that living with her husband of eight months, heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, was “pure hell,” announced today she is divorcing him.

Celebrity divorce lawyer Marvin Mitchelson said he would file a divorce petition this afternoon in Los Angeles for Givens, 23, who married Tyson in Chicago on Feb. 7. Their stormy union has brimmed with ominous reports of power struggles, violence and mental illness. Givens, a New York native, stars as Darlene in the ABC-TV series “Head of the Class,” which is currently filming in Burbank.
