Prep Football : Capistrano Valley Scores Early, Tops Point Loma, 17-8
Capistrano Valley High School scored 17 first-half points and made them stand up in a 17-8 nonleague victory over visiting Point Loma of San Diego Friday night.
Capistrano Valley (3-2) scored its first touchdown with 5:12 remaining in the first quarter on a 2-yard run by fullback Matt Mosebrook. Steve DeLaur set up the 5-play scoring drive with a 44-yard punt return to the Point Loma 26.
Capistrano Valley’s second touchdown came on an 18-yard pass from sophomore quarterback Tony Solliday to wide receiver David Poltl with 3:46 left in the second quarter, capping a 49-yard march.
Scott Hannah gave the Cougars a 17-0 lead with a 45-yard field goal on the final play of the first half.
Point Loma’s touchdown came with 2:25 left in the game on a 4-yard run by tailback Ron Lawson.
