Robin Givens Dumps Mitchelson

Actress Robin Givens has dismissed celebrity lawyer Marvin Mitchelson in her divorce suit against heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and hired New York-based Raoul Felder, her new attorney said Monday night.

“It’s no reflection on Mr. Mitchelson, who met with me today,” Felder told United Press International. “It just seemed the case shifted eastward for the time being and they thought it was more appropriate to retain me. I in turn have an associate in California if the case goes that way.”

Givens, who seeks half of the millions Tyson earned during their 8-month marriage, filed the divorce suit in California, where community property laws divide couples’ assets 50-50.

Lawyer Howard Weitzman met Tyson in Cleveland last weekend to plan an attempt to move the case to New Jersey, where the couple lived in a $4.5 million estate.

Tyson’s advisers are also suggesting he seek an annulment, sparing him a cash settlement, on grounds that Givens deceived him into wedlock by saying she was pregnant, reports said Monday.
