Big West Roundup : Johnson Gets 4 Scores in San Jose Win

Johnny Johnson rushed for 156 yards and 4 touchdowns to lead San Jose State to a 35-17 victory over Pacific in a Big West Conference game Saturday at Stockton.

Pacific (1-6, 1-3) took a 17-14 lead on Mark Gran’s 26-yard field goal in the third quarter, but the Spartans (2-5 overall, 2-0 in the Big West) took the lead for good on a 2-yard touchdown run by Ken Lutz.

Fresno State 51, Utah State 10--Mark Barsotti passed for 252 yards, and the Bulldog defense frustrated the Aggies’ Brent Snyder at Fresno.

Snyder was 19 of 45 for 249 yards, threw 4 interceptions and was sacked 7 times. He gave Utah State (2-4, 2-1) its touchdown on a 47-yard bomb to Kendal Smith.

Barsotti completed 11 of 28 passes, 7 of them to Dwight Pickens for 149 and a 53-yard touchdown for Fresno State (5-2, 3-0).

Nevada Las Vegas 28, New Mexico State 20--Charles Price threw 2 touchdown passes as the Rebels scored 22 points in the first quarter and beat the Aggies at Las Vegas.

The Aggies (1-5, 0-4) scored first on Mike Reneau’s 62-yard pass play to Alvin Warren, but UNLV (3-3, 2-1) scored on its next 3 possessions.
