SCIAC Votes to Accept CLU

Just one hurdle remains for Cal Lutheran to become a member of NCAA Division III after the presidents of schools in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference voted unanimously Wednesday to accept the university into its ranks.
The Cal Lutheran Board of Regents, which meets Friday and Saturday, must ratify the move before it becomes official.
Presidents from the 7-school SCIAC voted to accept Cal Lutheran once it eliminates athletic scholarships in compliance with conference and Division III rules.
Jerry Miller, Cal Lutheran president, said he was pleased that the SCIAC presidents voted to accept the school.
“This will be important news for our Board of Regents when they consider the Cal Lutheran faculty recommendation on Saturday,” Miller said.
The Cal Lutheran faculty voted last week to approve the move.
