Terry King kicked a 32-yard field goal with 56 seconds remaining to give Los Amigos High School a 3-3 tie with Santiago in a Garden Grove League game at Garden Grove High.

King’s field goal, the first of his career, capped a 69-yard drive that started at the Lobo 15 with 5:15 to play. It was aided by a personal foul that brought the Lobos to the Santiago 33. Three plays later, quarterback Shane Rumney connected with John Morgan for a 16-yard gain to set up the field goal.

After a scoreless first half, Santiago (4-4-1, 2-3-1 in league) took the lead in the third quarter on a 36-yard field goal by Jason Hooper. Hooper had a 42-yard attempt partially blocked by the Lobos’ Tony Herpica earlier in the game.

Los Amigos (5-3-2, 3-2-1) shut down Cavalier quarterback Dana Ripley, sacking him seven times. But the Lobos had trouble stopping running back Rudy Motley, who gained 106 yards in 19 carries.

The Cavaliers’ deepest penetration was to Los Amigos’ 16-yard line, but the drive ended when Motley fumbled, and the Lobos recovered.
