City Section Football : El Camino Real Reaches Playoffs : WEST VALLEY LEAGUE

A year after backing into the playoffs with no wins but 2 ties, El Camino Real High qualified for the City Section 4-A Division playoffs Thursday, defeating Canoga Park, 13-7.
Canoga Park managed to cross the El Camino Real 30-yard line only 2 times as the Conquistadores (3-6, 2-5) clinched third place in the West Valley League game at Canoga Park.
Brian Astgen’s 3-yard scoring run in the third quarter increased El Camino Real’s lead to 13-0. Linebacker Barron Postmus’ 21-yard interception return to the Canoga Park 3-yard line set up Astgen’s score.
El Camino Real quarterback Steve Smith scored on a 2-yard run to put El Camino Real ahead in the second quarter, 7-0.
David Erhardt’s 20-yard touchdown pass to Matt Thompsen capped a 98-yard drive with 44 seconds left in the game for Canoga Park (1-8, 0-7). El Camino Real had held the Hunters to 106 total yards before Canoga Park’s final drive.
El Camino Real managed only 121 total yards.
