Halfback Jeff Rojek caught a 9-yard touchdown pass from Rumney late in the first quarter. On Los Amigos’ next possession, he scored on a 1-yard run that helped give the Lobos a 21-0 lead. Rojek rushed for only 25 yards in 12 carries and caught 2 passes for 24 yards.

Bolsa Grande looked sluggish until the fourth quarter, scoring 20 points. The Matadors scored 3 touchdowns in a 7-minute span, including a 12-yard run by Rikki Ragsdale with a 1:10 to play that cut the lead to 28-20. The Matadors then tried an onside kick that failed and Los Amigos was able to run out the clock.

“We tried to give it away at the end, “ Los Amigos Coach Art Michalik said. “We somehow got complacent in the second half and there is just no reason for that.”

Eric Shimomura led Bolsa Grande with 103 yards in 18 carries. The Matadors turned the ball over 5 times, with 3 fumbles and 2 interceptions.
