Burbank, Hart Secure Foothill Playoff Berths

Burbank High will enter the Southern Section Division III playoffs as the No. 2 entry from the Foothill League by virtue of a tiebreaking system and not as the result of a coin flip as it first was reported. The Bulldogs were rewarded for handing league-champion Schurr its only league loss.

Burbank (3-2), which tied Burroughs and Hart for second, finishes ahead of both teams. The system awards 6 points for a victory over the first-place team, 5 points for a win over the second-place team and so on.

Hart, which defeated Burroughs, earns the league’s third berth. Burroughs’ only chance is to go as the only at-large entry in the division’s 16-team field.
