A 4-year-old boy, who was playing with matches along with his twin sister suffered second-degree burns over his upper body Tuesday in a fire at his Sylmar house, authorities said.

Chadwick Gordon was taken to Childrens Hospital in Los Angeles after the 4 p.m. fire in the 14000 block of Lakeside Street, Los Angeles City Fire Department spokesman Greg Acevedo said. The boy--who suffered burns on his chest, back and arms--was in fair condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.

No one else was injured in the blaze, Acevedo said.

About 30 firefighters put out the fire in less than half an hour, Acevedo said. Damage to the house was estimated at $33,000, he said.
