A 26-year-old San Diego man died after apparently chaining himself to the inside of his car, then ramming an abutment on Interstate 8 near the Imperial County line, Sheriff’s Department officials reported.
Samuel Albert Rohrer was found dead in his burned car near Ribbonwood Road in the Boulevard area about 2 a.m. Monday. A deputy coroner said Rohrer apparently set the car afire before he headed full speed into the pillar.
They said he left a suicide note.
