High School Basketball : Cleveland Fails in Bid to Defend Title, 63-62

Manny Casey of St. Joseph’s High hit a 15-foot jump shot with 3 seconds left to give his team a 63-62 win over Cleveland in the final of the Amador Basketball Classic in Pleasanton, Calif., on Saturday night.

Cleveland, the two-time defending tournament champion, led, 55-50, going into the fourth quarter but was outscored, 13-7, in the final period.

Warren Harrell had a game-high 20 points for Cleveland (5-2). Kansas-bound Adonis Jordan (12 points) of Cleveland and teammate Eddie Hill (9 points) were named to the all-tournament team.

Crescenta Valley 79, Burroughs 66 (OT)--The Falcons turned up the heat in overtime of the Crescenta Valley tournament championship game.

Raffie Eskandarian and John Gilmore combined for 11 points as the Falcons outscored the Indians, 15-2, in the extra period.

Burroughs forward Dan Murphy scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. The Indians connected on just 21 of 83 field-goal attempts.

Crescenta Valley forced the overtime when forward Bruce Jacobson hit 2 free throws with 1:44 to play.
