The State : Father Gets Probation

Share

A father who shot and severely wounded his 11-year-old daughter’s stepfather for molesting her has been ordered to serve five years’ probation. “I think this is the most difficult kind of case in the criminal justice system,” Judge Richard Gilbert said during sentencing in Sacramento. “He was pushed over the line. There’s no doubt about it.” The stepfather was sentenced to 14 years in prison after pleading no contest to sexual molestation. The father followed the 33-year-old stepfather to a Roseville church, then shot him four times and ordered a bystander to call police. Names of the father and stepfather were withheld to protect the identity of the molested girl.
